Over summer 2021, artist Emily Bowers joined with Art Pop-Up and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust to explore the beauty of Deeping Lakes nature reserve.
Art Pop Up coordinated with a wide range of community organisations and institutions including Deeping Community Library, local schools, Forest School, Braeburn Lodge, U3A and Deeping Youth Group to create a programme of free creative community engagement activities that took place throughout August.
Emily led workshops for both adults and children at Deeping Library every weekend throughout August. Each workshop focused on a different theme including wetland birds, wildflowers and bugs found on the reserve.
Emily incorporated the community’s artworks into a large scale piece, bringing everyone’s creativity together with her own. The project concluded with an ‘artwork unveiling’ on Saturday 28th of August with an exhibition and workshop at the Library showcasing all that had been achieved in the programme throughout the month. The project culminated with an Artist-led walk around Deeping Lakes on the 29th.
This project was supported by Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, South Kesteven Community Fund, DSJ United Charities, the Lions, the Rotary, and the Youth Club.
